Cinnamon and Weight Loss - Can Cinnamon Help Shed Unwanted Pounds?

Do cinnamon and weight loss go hand and hand? Is it possible that something as simple as adding cinnamon to your diet actually help you lose unwanted body fat?

Let's examine some of the facts behind this and determine if it is a myth or if it is actually a weight loss wonder drug.

You know, I personally love the taste of cinnamon and I know there are a lot of others out there just like me.

But the idea of having a cup of cinnamon tea at night to help lose weight is a new one for me.

I first came across this when I was searching online for another article I was writing on fat burning accelerators.

A Little Far Fetched

I started reading about cinnamon and weight loss and there are some sites out there claiming that you can start losing weight in just one week by drinking a cinnamon and honey tea every day.

This one seemed a little far fetched to me, but I did discover a whole heap of amazing benefits from cinnamon.

Did you know that cinnamon can lower your cholesterol? That's right, just taking two teaspoon of cinnamon a day can actually help lower the LDL cholesterol that is clogging up so many people's arteries.

Also, cinnamon helps to control your insulin levels and has a positive effect on how sugar levels in the blood. This is amazing for people with diabetes.

When I read this I thought "Great, If there was a link between cinnamon and weight loss then this has got to be it".

I mean if cinnamon can help control your blood sugar levels and keep them from spiking, then it is not only good for people with diabetes but it is also great for controlling your metabolism and how the body stores fat.

You may or may not know that insulin levels have a direct link to how the body stores fat.

When you eat foods that spike your insulin (like sugar and white flour) it triggers your body to start to store the excess energy. This energy is stored as fat.

In effect by adding cinnamon to your diet, you can actually help to keep your insulin levels from spiking and help to keep your body from storing as much fat.

Before Your Start...

Before you start to think that this is the holy grail of weight loss I do need to mention that cinnamon and weight loss work well together.

However, you can not think that this is the magic bullet of weight loss.

Although it can work very effectively to help to stabilize your insulin levels, eating this and then pounding back a slice of cheesecake is not going to work well on the scale.

Exercise and Nutrition = Healthy

I know that you have probably heard this before, but a two headed approach is the only way to truly beat the bulge.
