The Best Tricep Workout

That horseshoe shape, that’s what you are aiming for with the best tricep workout. Triceps are one of the most under rated muscles in the body. Very rarely do you actually hear a guy talking about how great his triceps are. If they are its usually because they don’t have any other muscle to brag about.

A lot of people don’t know however, that the tricep makes up about 60-65% of the arm. So if you really want big guns then it is important to train with both bicep and tricep exercises. To get the best tricep workout I generally recommend doing triceps with chest, but it is also very possible to work them with biceps and shoulders. I have some sample routines of each below.

All About The Push

The reason tricep and chest work so well together is the motion they both make. They are both worked in a pushing motion. This means that when one is the primary muscle being worked the other is usually the secondary and vice versa. If you don’t work them together you run the risk of really overworking your triceps because they are a small muscle group.

Whole Arm Together

The second best way to get the best tricep workout is to work it with the bicep. Doing bicep and tricep exercises during the same workout are a great way to get a huge pump on your arms. You will literally never find a better way to walk around the gym with bigger guns.

You really have to be careful when working out arms, although it is still possible to get the a great tricep workout you really run the risk of both overtraining your arms and under training the rest of your upper body.

Doing mostly bicep and tricep exercises are a great way to forget about the most important kinds of strength building exercises. Compound movement exercises are by far the most important concept you can understand when building muscle, and doing a lot of arm exercises usually means you are doing a lot of isolation exercises. So be very careful, and don’t do your whole arm together unless you are an advanced strength trainer.

***Special note, I don't own the rights to this workout, but I do recommend the training routine***

Building big guns is one of the most sought after prizes in strength training. Most people just focus on the bicep portion of the workout because those are the muscle that pop. Don’t be one of those people, you have to remember that the tricep is the largest portion of the arm. So remember to work on the horseshoe shape of the tricep muscle using the best tricep workout routines above.
