Your Natural Bodybuilding Training Program
One question that I get a lot from people interested in natural bodybuilding is "What kind of training program should I use to build muscle size?"
They are generally talking about using a split routine to get to their bodybuilding goals. My generally answer to this question varies greatly, but it always starts with the nutritional aspect of their goals.
They have to understand that it all revolves around the basics of good nutrition.
Many Factors
There are many other factors that go into a good routine, which I will get into below but it doesn't matter if you are trying to lean out, or bulk up your diet is going to play a key role in all situations.
If you are interested in cutting weight and getting lean you will need to have a calorie deficit and the reverse is true. Also very important is the types of food that go into your diet, obviously whole foods are by far the best.
The natural bodybuilders life is quite a complicated one. Constantly balancing on the fine line of nutrition to meet their goals.
One part that often gets overlooked in the life of a natural bodybuilder is the supplement that they use. Supplements will play a key role in the development of your muscles.

Vary Greatly
Natural Bodybuilding training programs vary greatly. Many of them are broken up into split programs some broken down as deep as one muscle group per day. These are very advanced programs.
Most of these programs started from a 3 day a week full body program. They then make their way to a 2 day split done twice a week, some great examples of this are push / pull days or upper body / lower body days.
This is a point that many actually stay, that is because these kinds of splits are great. Especially if you are training for sports such as football or hockey.
If you are looking to become a competitive natural bodybuilder you may need to further split your routine out again. This time to a 4 day split routine, or even further.
In any of the above examples there are a few things that separate good routines from the rest.
1. The use of supersets, tri sets or even mini circuits to increase intensity
2. Compound exercises make up the majority of exercises increasing the efficiency of any given workout
3. Minimal rest in between sets which will increase density of workout
4. Your Rep range is typically between 8 to 12
5. More cardio effects than simple weight training, increased breathing and heart rate
If you are not into competitive natural bodybuilding and are a typical busy person the superset and circuit training types of workouts are great choices.
This will increase the intensity of your workouts while keeping you at the gym for a short period of time and giving you great results.
