Welcome To My Blog

by Eleanor Cheyne

Hi All, My name is Eleanor Cheyne and I am an Alternative Health Practitioner. Before I list my credentials I would like to state that my passion is teaching. Not in front of a classroom but to people who want to be healthy, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Below you will find my credentials with a short summary of how I can contribute to your health.

Certified Yoga Instructor –Yoga encompasses strength, balance and flexibility. One learns selfishness therefore strength of character and personality. Physical strength is gained as well from the postures, or poses as some refer to them. Moving to balance- we know that balancing the different aspects of ones lives (work, family and other commitments) eases the stress of our overfilled days. The most important, I feel, is flexibility. Flexibility of mind allows us to be more tolerant and compassionate of others and ourselves. The flexible body, physically, can endure all types of exercise and sports. With flexibility our body parts move more fluidly and gives length to our major body parts ( hips, back, shoulders, spine, etc). Our spirit is taken care of with the spiritual part of yoga. Breathing, deep breathing, relaxation techniques as well as meditation.

Certified Nutritional Consultant – We are absolutely bombarded with information on nutritional do’s and don’t’s. If prefer to find out about your total life cycle ( work, family, beliefs, etc). This information can lead on to answer their own questions about why they are dieting, for who they are losing weight. What exactly does being healthy mean to you?

Certified Reflexologist – There are acupressure points in the feet that correspond to parts of your body. When these points are stimulated there is can be relief of whatever was the issue. A treatment can take anywhere from ½ hr to 1 hr. It is extremely relaxing.

Certified Life Coach – As a Life Coach I work with people to assit them in finding ways to make their lives fulfilling. Whatever area of their lives they are concerned with. The interesting fact is that usually when an area has been successfully overhauled, this allows transition into other areas. By the time that our successful session is completed, one has the tools to then work on other areas, independently.

Fitness Instructor – I have taught fitness for 15 years. I have worked for 10 years in a gym setting teaching step classes, aerobics, spinning, yoga and line dancing. I have also owned and operated my own gym for 4 years. Fitness is very individual and varying reasons why people are wanting to get fit. Personal preference to feel and look good. Medically, there is an illness that either losing weight or/and getting fit can contribute to better health. I enjoy seeing the progress in people from the shy beginnings to the successes at different stages. It is very rewarding.

Meditation Instructor – Meditation is so misunderstood. I usually refer to it as sitting because of the different connotations the word meditation conjures up for some.

There are many written requirements. I prefer to refer to them as suggestions. It would be beneficial to have a particular place, but if that is not possible pick a spot at the time you decide to meditate and do so. It would be beneficial to meditate for 1 hrs both morning and night, but meditate for how ever long you are able. It takes time and patience and you will definitely benefit from your commitment. I believe that meditating enables one to manage their lives better.

Journaling – Journaling is thought to be writing in a book what one did in their day. I refer to journaling as just plain writing. As with meditation, some people are put off by the requirements that are insinuated with the word journaling. I want you to feel free and powerful when you write. There is NO right or wrong.. You can write in a book on a napkin, whenever and wherever you want. Some inhibitions may be fear that someone will find your writing, then rip is up or destroy is other ways. Writing is just to get it out, once it is out the healing begins. Another may be that you have a dark side, that is actually healthy. Writing enables one to balance their both sides. Try a little exercise. Write stream of consciousness. Take ten minutes or five, go somewhere quiet and private and write whatever comes to you. Don’t take your pen from the paper. There is no right or wrong. If you haven’t got anything to write, write yada, yada, etc. or write that you don’t have anything to write. Sooner or later you will have something to write and you will be pleasantly surprised. Try it!

Well there you have it! As you may have noticed I really have been into Health and Fitness for my whole life.

I hope that you get as much out of reading this blog as I do from posting it. Please leave any comments below and I will do my best to help you along your way.
